Backwards

I have totally failed when it comes to blogging recently...
AND SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED!!

So, I decided to work my way backwards on the events of our lives. Tonight, I will share two fun things that happened this last weekend.

First we got our Christmas tree!! Last week, I was texting my mission trainer, Heather (who lives in Layton), if she knew of any tree stands where we could find a tree. She told us that instead of buying one we could go with them up to her parents' cabin in Mountain Green and cut down our tree...needless to say, we were very very excited. So, Saturday afternoon we climbed in their truck (with their new dog, Cowboy) and made our way up the windy, icy canyon country road (I'm glad Ryan was driving...he knew what he was doing). When we got there, Heather's parents were there too getting their 20+ foot Christmas tree ready at the cabin. We loaded everyone up (including the dog) into the Ranger (minus the parents) and began to make our way up the mountain looking for the PERFECT tree. We found one pretty quickly (and good thing it was quick because we couldn't go much farther up due to the snow), got the chainsaw out, and cut it down. We're still getting lights up so the finished product will be coming shortly...until then, here are some pictures to tide you over.

Right after we got our tree set up, we picked up our kitty!! I've been wanting a cat fooooooooooor-evvvvvvvv-er. Brad promised me when we moved from Logan we would find a place that allowed pets. We found our awesome house that we're living in now and couldn't pass up the opportunity to live here despite the fact that they didn't allow pets (because of the sheep). When I overheard a lady in our ward say that she had just rescued some kittens and was trying to find a new home for them, I lost it! I begged Brad to go talk to our landlord and that it could be my Christmas present. So, after much worrying and preparing ourselves for Jeff (the landlord) to say no, I was VERY surprised when Brad texted me one day at work and said that we were getting a cat. I was so giddy, it was ridiculous! (Even my patients at work knew what was going on and kept asking me when we were going to pick him up...I was telling everyone!) So, after much anticipation, we picked up our half black-white tabby/Siamese cat that we named Gus. And we are in love! (Well, Brad doesn't like when Gus pounces on his face while he's sleeping but we all know it's a sign of endearment). The first night and day were tough because he was freaking out so I was freaking out. But he is doing great!! I love how he purrs ALL.THE.TIME. He has quite the motor, sometimes it wakes me up at night. We are loving our little family :)
